"Excellent, intimate"
Gus Dudgeon, producer

"Classically trained pianist Debbie Andrews is a bit of an enigma to me. maybe it's because she's able to display her talents without coming off as a show-off on her latest disc "Suburbs of Eden." Maybe it's because she proves she can write poppy songs without sounding like she's aiming for any one particular genre. Maybe it's because this eight song...disc leaves me wanting a whole lot more from this young artist.

Working with musical partner Mike Blaxill...... tracks like "Resurrection" and "Dog On A Skylight" demonstrate the skill that Andrews has - as a songwriter, as a musician and as a singer. It's not easy to be good - even passable - at all three skills at once. Andrews shows she's more than good. The disc's closing track, "Testament" leaves the listener wanting so much more from this album, yet teases them by not offering more.

"Suburbs of Eden" is a disc which demonstrates the promise that Andrews has as she continues to hone her craft into a blade so sharp it will undoubtedly slice her own path through the muddled musical genres. All I know is that I want to hear more - and I hope Andrews won't keep her soon to be large fan base waiting long."

'Debbie Andrews proves on "Suburbs of Eden" that there is alot of good music out there to be discovered.....many artists struggle to attain the level of consistency and quality that is found on this CD. It's rock/pop music , but much more. Andrews has a wonderfully endearing voice that makes you believe every word she sings.....excellent vocals with quality songwriting."

"There are three photographs of Debbie Andrews on the cover and booklet of this eight song CD, and they could be photographs of three different people. That disparity of appearance is extended to her music, which shows multiple dimensions of the artist.

Andrews has a remarkable voice - clear and expressive, with a pop quality that sometimes seems at odds with her often moody, poetic lyrics.... a great part of the appeal of her music is this shape-shifting quality that makes her completely accessible music sound something considerably more than ordinary. She's also a fine keyboardist, decorating her songs with acoustic and electric piano, B-3, Wurlitzer and synths. On top of it all, the disc is self-produced, demonstrating taste, skill and a remarkable lack of self-indulgence in the studio."

"..."Suburbs of Eden is filled with powerfully written emotional songs delivered with a pop sensibility."

"...on Debbie's new CD, the title track Surrounded By Windows juxtaposes dream-like imagery and declarations of newfound clarity and it works. All six tracks are built around Andrews' compact piano work...the production is adult-pop, dense, but not flashy..."Surrounded By Windows" is good to the last drop!"
